Thompson Engineering Company
Thompson Engineering Company specializes in energy and water conservation. Beginning in 2005, TEC was created to provide environmental consulting and engineering assistance to state and local governments. Our background in solar powered electronic sensors and solar powered road closure systems provided an excellent means of implementing self-sustaining remote-control environmentally-conscious decision systems. We provided consulting assistance to Midwest state governments on waterway usage, fertilizer and chemical usage plans for ice and snow removal activities, and installed weather monitoring devices and traffic control devices for the motoring public. This included two successful patent applications for solar powered road closure & hazard warning systems.
In 2007, this experience led TEC into the fields of water and energy conservation engineering through the use of rain harvesting systems and solar powered communications devices (cellular, wi-fi, and satellite) connected to various types of sensor suites. The majority of this work, to date, has been research and development assistance for state governments which includes proof of concept demonstrations, pilot projects, and smaller scale energy storage systems.
The professional engineers at Thompson Engineering are also experts at electronic data gathering using several survey instruments from aerial photography, questionnaires, electronic sensors, and digital counters. This includes health and usage monitoring devices for our installation sites. The information gathered from these systems are used to diagnose potential system failures, identify operational and maintenance trends, and provide prognosis of future events. Thompson Engineering provides information modeling techniques to assist in decision support systems based on large data sets created from remote electronic sensors and data gatherers.
